Here at Vulcan Self Storage, security is a very high priority. We have state of the art CCTV, which is in operation 24 hours a day. Access to the building is via a secure PIN code which operates the gate and/or the security door(s).
All storage units are secured using brand new, highly specialised locks, and the customer is the sole key holder.
You are not allowed to store:
- Food or perishable goods, unless securely packed or protected, and approved by us.
- Birds, fish, animals or any other living creatures.
- Combustible or flammable materials or liquids such as: gas, paint, petrol, oil or cleaning solvents.
- Firearms, explosives, weapons or ammunition.
- Chemicals, radioactive materials or biological agents.
- Toxic waste, asbestos or other materials of a potentially dangerous nature.
- Any item which emits any fumes, smell or odour.
- Any illegal substances, illegal items or goods illegally obtained, including counterfeit goods, illicit (smuggled/counterfeit) tobacco, illicit alcohol and unlicensed medicines, unsafe goods (including toys, electrical items, cosmetics and fireworks)
- Compressed gases.
You pay 1 month in advance and each calendar month after that. Your initial payment needs to be by credit/debit card. Unfortunately, we are unable to accept cheques or cash.
Minimum stay is 14 days, but payment is required one month in advance, if you vacate after the 2nd week, you would automatically be refunded provided that you advised us on the day you moved in that you would be vacating in 14 days.
You need to give 7 days’ notice prior to removal. This needs to be given in writing, by letter or via email. We will not make your room available to anyone else until you have fully moved out.
Yes, you need your own padlock to ensure that you are the sole key holder for your room and to ensure that your room is securely locked at all times. Vulcan Self Storage stock high security padlocks which are available to purchase.
Please bring the following:
- Two forms of ID, one of which must be a photo ID (passport or driving licence); for non UK citizens a passport or UK driving licence will be required) and a utility bill less than 3 months old
- Payment (credit/debit card)
- An alternative contact name address and phone number
- A padlock (we sell them if you forget)
Your goods must be insured whilst in storage. Vulcan Self Storage offers insurance protection under our own insurance policy.
We always take good care of our store and make every effort to protect items being stored with us. Unfortunately, there are some events which may damage your goods which are out of our control, such as a fire or flood. It is therefore standard practice for self-storage companies to require their customers to adequately insure their goods for the duration of their stay.
Vulcan Self Storage can provide comprehensive insurance cover that has been specifically designed for self-storage. It covers more perils than a standard household policy and offers additional protection to your valuable items should the unthinkable happen. Your policy is valid whilst your goods are stored within your storage unit. There is no cover provided for the period of loading, unloading and transit. As the policy we provide is not connected to your household insurance, any claim does not affect your premium, nor will it affect any no claims discount you may have accrued.
It totally depends on circumstances. Some people use self storage to keep their belongings during home moves or while having work done on their homes, so it might be just a few weeks. Some customers use self store for seasonal items, such as garden furniture or festive decorations, for a few months at a time. And some customers store artwork or hobby items in their unit on a permanent basis, rather than keeping them in their home.
We only need one week’s notice to cancel your self storage arrangement, so we don’t need to know beforehand how long you want to store your items.
You only pay for the storage you use and refunds will be given on any pre-payment of storage where 7 days’ notice has been given. Payment is required one month in advance and you will be automatically refunded for any unused storage, provided at least 7 days’ notice has been given in writing by letter or email.
